"Covers 130+ Major Domestic and International Tourist Destinations and Landmarks"

Sears Lab (CEO Jeong Jin-uk), an augmented reality (AR) specialist company, announced on the 1st the official launch of "Mirror Town," an open digital twin platform providing approximately 130 major domestic tourist destinations and landmarks as reality-based virtual spaces. Developed by a consortium led by Sears Lab, Mirror Town completed a 6-month beta service period and officially launched for commercial use — available for download on Android Play Store and Apple App Store.

During August, public institutions and companies applying for listing receive 3 months of free listing benefits and operational training. The platform plans to enhance features by year-end to enable individuals and small businesses to more easily create and share 3D digital twin spaces. Supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA)'s "Metaverse Platform Development Support Project" through broadcasting and communications development funds, Mirror Town aims to provide an open platform for building medium-to-long-term virtual economic ecosystems. Unlike game-based virtual space metaverse services, Mirror Town is a reality-based open digital twin service — implementing 133 real spaces including famous tourist sites, cultural spaces, and city streets of municipalities including Daegu, Jeju, Gwangju, North Gyeongsang, Seoul, and North Jeolla. Visitors can experience realistic virtual visits without physically going to locations, with real-time information sharing and business model integration expected to benefit domestic users and overseas tourists alike, including pre-booking accommodations and K-pop idol-related location exploration.
