SR (SRT operator) conducted metaverse-based disaster preparedness standing training on the 27th, simulating a major accident inside a tunnel assuming an SRT and GTX-A train collision. The training used a metaverse virtual training platform built last year, upgraded to include the tunnel collision scenario. SRT drivers, cabin chiefs, and crew accessed the metaverse space to review role-based initial response tasks, overcoming temporal and spatial constraints. The headquarters disaster safety center monitored the virtual disaster site, issued a 4-stage internal crisis alert, and conducted table-top exercises discussing each division's duties and roles. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Central Accident Management Center also participated to review roles and discuss improvements through after-action reviews. Hwaseong City volunteer disaster prevention corps members living near SRT Dongtan Station also participated, identifying issues and providing opinions from the customer perspective. This represents an expanding use of metaverse technology for emergency response training in Korea's high-speed rail sector.
