The Ministry of Science and ICT and Ministry of the Interior and Safety visited Ochang Industrial Complex in North Chungcheong Province on the 29th to inspect the "Chungcheong Region AI·Metaverse-Based Disaster Safety Management System Strengthening Project" — reviewing disaster safety management system construction status and discussing activation plans. The 3-year project (2023-2025, 36 billion won total: 24 billion national, 12 billion local) supports system development and demonstration across 4 fields of digital-based accident prevention/response systems across the four Chungcheong area municipalities (North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, Daejeon, Sejong). North Chungcheong's 1st year work: AI·metaverse-based control platform construction to prevent fire/explosion/fall/entanglement accidents in industrial sites, demonstrating real-time prediction/response systems for 10 local companies.
Roundtable discussions: sharing regional project progress; identifying challenges and policy recommendations for demonstration/utilization expansion; consensus that system construction is important but proper operation and management after construction is more critical — emphasizing the need for active participation by actual demand companies/departments in decision-making. Recommendations included expansion of government demonstration projects and follow-up support for sustainable regional digital safety management systems.
