Incheon Metropolitan City Office of Education is pursuing cultivation of Incheon-type science focused schools. Incheon City Office of Education held a press conference at the briefing room on the 11th, announcing the "2nd Incheon-Type Science Focused School" support plan and AI-based convergence education implementation policy. The "2nd Incheon-Type Science Focused School" is a school that expands student learning choices for science, mathematics, and information subjects at general high schools and supports growth according to each student nature through in-depth learning and project-centered inquiry activities. The 18 designated schools for 2025: mix of humanities-focused high schools gaining science and AI curriculum expansion; the program addresses the imbalance where students in non-science high schools have limited access to rigorous STEM education; AI convergence education integration means all students regardless of school type will have access to practical AI skills development; the program reflects Korea national priority of ensuring AI literacy becomes universal rather than concentrated in specialized schools.
