Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT) and Sogang University announced signing an MOU at Sogang University's Samsung Gabriel Hall on the 8th for joint development and administration of the "Metaverse Developer" qualification and digital talent development. The agreement covers mutual cooperation and operation of a professional qualification for nurturing digital specialists in the era of digital transformation centered on metaverse. Sogang University handles detailed question standards and classification system establishment for the Metaverse Developer qualification examination, while KAIT handles the overall process including examination administration, operation, and systems. The Metaverse Developer qualification examination scheduled for September consists of 3 categories (Programming, Graphics, Architecture), each divided into Level 1 (practical) and Level 2 (multiple choice), covering metaverse basics, utilities, graphics, and planning-to-development practical content. A distinctive feature: examinees can choose between "Unity" and "Unreal" — the two most widely used engines in the metaverse market — for both study and examination. Sogang University Graduate School of Metaverse Dean Hyun Dae-won: "Through this agreement, we will contribute to nurturing professional talent for metaverse and elevating Korea's metaverse capabilities." KAIT Senior Vice President Lee Chang-hee: "We will continuously develop the qualification certification system to verify metaverse capabilities for nurturing core talent leading the digital economy and future growth engines."
