Introducing Air Taxis and Cargo Drones
Building Smart Air Corridors
Sustainable Urban Transportation Vision

UAE Advanced Air Mobility Projects: UAE has begun mapping air corridors and developing regulatory frameworks utilizing manned and autonomous flying air taxis and cargo drones to open a new future in urban transportation. Air corridors are aerial movement routes where drones or air taxis can move safely and efficiently. This project is being conducted through strategic partnership between UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Technology Innovation Institute (TII), and ASPIRE under the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC). Air corridors and regulations are planned to be completed within the next 20 months. Through this, UAE can resolve urban traffic congestion problems and present standards for sustainable transportation systems globally. The UAE AAM advantage: UAE geographic characteristics (compact cities, high government investment capacity, year-round favorable flying weather) make it an ideal AAM deployment environment; Dubai has already conducted autonomous air taxi trials (Volocopter, Joby Aviation testing); the regulatory framework development is the critical path item that will determine whether commercial service launches by 2026-2027 as planned; UAE AAM development provides a template for other Gulf cities (Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Qatar) that are pursuing similar smart city transportation transformations.
