LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solution signed an MOU for floating offshore wind power business cooperation with UK Balmoral Comtec at LS Cable & System Seoul office. Through this agreement, the three companies will cooperate in floating offshore wind power cable and mooring/anchoring system supply, joint development of integrated solutions combining submarine cable expertise with mooring technology. LS Cable & System CEO Ku Bon-gyu, Balmoral Comtec CEO Bill Main, and LS Marine Solution CEO Kim Byeong-ok participated in the MOU ceremony. The floating offshore wind context: fixed-foundation offshore wind is limited to water depths below 60 meters; floating offshore wind (FOWT) enables deployment in deep-water sites (60-1000m+) opening up the vast majority of ocean area for wind energy; Korea deep-sea coastlines are well-suited for FOWT; LS Cable specializes in submarine cables essential for transmitting FOWT electricity to shore; Balmoral Comtec specializes in mooring systems that anchor floating platforms; LS Marine Solution provides offshore service capabilities; the combination addresses the full supply chain for FOWT deployment.
