LG Energy Solution announced an MOU with Bear Robotics — a Silicon Valley-based autonomous mobile robot platform startup founded in 2017 by former Google engineer Ha Jeong-woo — for battery cell supply agreement and technology cooperation, announced on the 18th. Starting next year, LG Energy Solution will exclusively supply cylindrical batteries (2170) to Bear Robotics' service and industrial robots including "Servi Plus" and logistics AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) "Carty." Bear Robotics, which developed the world's first commercially successful serving robot and expanded to 20+ countries in Korea, Japan, and North America, recently expanded into logistics robots with the Carty100 AMR. LG Energy Solution's cylindrical batteries feature differentiated safety through high-quality NCMA cathode material with aluminum, and Safety Reinforced Separator (SRS) with proprietary ceramic coating patent technology — critical for service robots operating in close proximity to daily human life where safety is paramount alongside cost competitiveness. LG Energy Solution, which first developed cylindrical batteries in 1999, has expanded applications from notebook PCs and e-bikes to EVs and commercial vehicles, now advancing into the rapidly growing global robotics market as part of its "Empower Every Possibility" vision diversifying into non-EV industries including robots, ships, and UAM.
