Korea''s First and Largest — Comprehensive Guide for 18 Countries, 29 Cities
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA published Korea's first "2025 Global Franchise Trends" report to support domestic franchise companies' overseas expansion, unveiled at the "2025 Global Franchise Business Plaza" held at Seoul aT Center from the 13th to 15th.
As the popularity of Korean Wave content grows, the Korean franchise industry is evolving from simple product exports to exporting brands and operating systems. However, country-specific legal/regulatory differences and varying market environments remain major barriers for overseas expansion. KOTRA comprehensively compiled market trends, legal information, and success stories across 18 countries and 29 cities — including traditional markets (US, China, Europe) and Global South nations in Asia and Latin America gaining attention for Korean Wave popularity and rising purchasing power. The report includes infographics for at-a-glance country-specific legal/regulatory overviews and market research guidance maps for practical use by Korean franchise companies preparing overseas expansion.
KOTRA President Kang Gyeong-seong stated: "This report will strengthen domestic franchise companies' overseas expansion capabilities and create practical export opportunities through field-linked projects — we will continue actively supporting domestic companies' global market entry through close cooperation with related institutions."
