An Opportunity to Experience Korea''s Pure Traditional Arts in Dongdaemun
The Korea Traditional Performing Arts Foundation will hold "2025 Gwangmudae Thursday Pungnyu," a regular traditional performance series, every Thursday from April 3 to December 25 at Gwangmudae theater in Dongdaemun. The historic Gwangmudae theater, built on the site of the original Gwangmudae where Kaehwa-era masters performed, now specializes in small-scale traditional performances. Having started in 2021 and now in its 5th year, this year the series becomes a regularized paid performance every Thursday evening at 7 PM.
Selected through open competition, 38 teams ranging from up-and-coming new artists to established masters will perform across all traditional performing arts genres — instrumental music, vocal arts, dance, and folk entertainment. Tickets are 10,000 won per seat and available through Interpark Tickets. Details are available on the Korea Traditional Performing Arts Foundation website.
