Asia-Pacific (APAC) region is accelerating generative AI adoption driven by population growth and economic expansion. Korea Deloitte Group (composed of Deloitte Anjin LLC and Deloitte Consulting Korea) presented the current state of generative AI adoption in the region, industry-specific changes, trends, and challenges through its recently published report "Asia-Pacific Region TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications) Sector Generative AI Trends and Prospects." The report covers major industries in the APAC region including IT, hardware, semiconductors, media and entertainment, telecommunications, and sports. Key findings: APAC generative AI adoption is accelerating faster than global average, driven by large young tech-savvy populations; semiconductor industry is both an enabler (chip production) and beneficiary (AI-driven design automation) of generative AI; K-content (K-pop, K-drama) is creating unique generative AI applications for content localization, fan engagement, and virtual artist creation; telecommunications companies are deploying AI for network optimization, customer service automation, and new service development; challenges include regulatory uncertainty (data privacy laws vary dramatically across APAC countries), language complexity (hundreds of languages and scripts vs Europe English dominance), and infrastructure gaps in emerging markets.
