Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture (CEO Song Hyung-jong) and Cinema Center (CEO Ko In-beom) signed an MOU for promoting cultural arts vitalization in Seoul and Busan at Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture Daehangno Center on the 20th. Through this agreement, the two organizations will build a cultural arts network connecting Seoul and Busan to resolve urban art infrastructure gaps and support active exchange among regional art creators. Cinema Center is a representative complex cultural space and international film festival dedicated venue in Busan, operating various performing arts programs and art, classic, popular, and independent film festivals year-round. The Seoul-Busan cultural exchange significance: Korea cultural infrastructure is heavily concentrated in Seoul; Busan as Korea second city has the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) as a major cultural anchor but lacks the breadth of cultural institutions Seoul offers; the MOU enables co-productions, touring exhibitions, and artist exchange programs that allow Busan audiences access to Seoul cultural programming and Seoul audiences exposure to Busan regional arts; the long-term goal is reducing the cultural infrastructure gap that makes talented artists relocate to Seoul rather than build careers in regional cities.
